The purpose of a line driver is to increase signal to noise ratio that might picked up by the RCA cables (usually not a problem) but more importantly provides sufficient drive when using multiple amplifiers. This technique is as good (if not better) than using a standard line driver since the X-CONNECT is costs less than a line driver and "high power" head units mostly standard now.
